Developer Studio very slow in starting

When Starting BDS 2006 it takes a very long time to startup - so long that I have to kill the process.

If BDS takes too long to start (over 2 minutes) and appears to freeze, resulting in other applications also being slow - there are two possible solutions, first try to defrag your harddrive, second run scandisk on the drive.� This has proved to be the�solution on more than one occasion.
