BDS 2006: Error message "The object is currently in use elsewhere"

Description:

1. When creating a C++ project and trying to select option(s) from the dropdown list, the following error occurs:

�?An unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. Click continue and application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. The object is currently in use elsewhere?.�

or

2. When attempting to view the Form layout �for any C# project, the following error occurs:

?The object is currently in use elsewhere?

Resolution:

This is an Operating System related issue, especially with some graphic cards.

Workaround:

- Switch OFF graphics acceleration:� Start | Settings | Control Panel | Display | TroubleShooting. Change the Hardware Acceleration to NONE.

- Restart the IDE
