JBuilder was working fine, but now it hangs when starting

Abstract: JBuilder was working fine, but now it hangs when starting

Issue:

JBuilder has been working fine, but now it hangs during launch. Also, no exception appear if I launch jbuilder.exe from a console window. What might be the problem?

Description:

If you were working on a particular project in JBuilder when it was shutdown, JBuilder will attempt to reopen that particular project the next time the IDE is launched. In rare cases, JBuilder can have trouble reopening that project during launch.

Solution:

The solution for this problem is to prevent JBuilder from attempting to open the project during launch-time. To do this, navigate to the ../<user home>/.primetime<version>/user.properties and open it using a text editor (note: user.properties was stored in the .jbuilder<version> folder prior to JBuilder X). Scroll down to the lines that start with 'history' and delete them, save the file and restart JBuilder. The history lines will be somewhat similar to the following:

history;directory.last=jbproject/Untitled1//Bar1/META-INF
history;files.active=jbproject/Untitled1/untitled1.jpx;jbproject/Untitled2/notes.txt
history;projects.active=jbproject/Untitled1/untitled1.jpx
history;projects.open.1=jbproject/Untitled1/untitled1.jpx
history;projects.reopen.1=jbproject/Untitled1/untitled1.jpx
history;projects.reopen.2=jbproject/Untitled2/untitled2.jpx
history;projects.reopen.3=jbproject/Untitled3/untitled3.jpx
