Abstract: Why do I get errors in my weblogic.xml file when compiling?

Why do I get errors in my weblogic.xml file when compiling?

Information in this Brief applies to:

  • Borland JBuilder 9
  • All Supported Platforms
  • Weblogic Server 7.x

Overview

Weblogic 7.x is the server for my web application and the generated weblogic.xml has errors. How to fix this.

Details

If you create a new web application and set Weblogic 7.x to be the server you will notice that the weblogic.xml file that is generated by JBuilder has a DOCTYPE line pointing to the Weblogic 6.1 DTD. This can cause errors since the WLS 7.0 DTD supports tags that 6.1 does not.

The correct line for the WLS 7.x DTD is this:

<!DOCTYPE weblogic-web-app PUBLIC "-//BEA Systems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 7.0//EN" "http://www.bea.com/servers/wls700/dtd/weblogic700-web-jar.dtd">
Copy this line and paste it over the old DOCTYPE line in your weblogic.xml file. This should resolve the errors you are having.
