Q. I have a Borland support and maintenance contract for one of the IDE products. Will my contract be voided?
A. Borland is not discontinuing or suspending its IDE products. We have announced our intent to divest the IDE product lines from Borland once a buyer is found. Your existing support contract will be honored by Borland and then subsequently transitioned to the buyer of the IDE lines of business. Borland will ensure a smooth transition throughout this period for all customers. In fact, one of Borland?s main objectives is to select a buyer focused on advancing individual developer productivity and Borland is committed to making existing customers successful with these solutions. This will preserve your investment and ensure the value of your support and maintenance contract.
Q. I need to log a technical support case on an IDE product. Do I still call Borland?
A. Borland is committed to full support of the IDE products until after any sale transaction closes and the contracts are transitioned to the buyer. Customers with active Borland support and maintenance contracts should continue to follow normal Borland technical support processes until further notice. Borland will provide detailed transition information to each affected customer well in advance before any changes are made to the normal technical support procedures.
Q. I want to upgrade my existing copy of an IDE product to the latest available version. Is it too late to do that?
A. Customers with active Borland support and maintenance contracts continue to enjoy full entitlement to product upgrades. Please contact Borland technical support for more information on how to upgrade your existing products to the latest available versions.
Q. I was expecting an upgrade when I purchased a Borland support and maintenance contract. Will there still be upgrades to the IDE products?
A. Borland continues to execute on the existing development plans and roadmaps for the IDE products. We expect a smooth transition of these efforts to the new buyer.
Q. We own several Borland products, including both IDE products and ALM products. What happens to our support contract once the IDE products are divested from Borland?
A. Our current expectation is that support contracts that include both IDE and non-IDE line items will be split and the ALM portion will continue to be supported by Borland and the IDE portion will be transitioned to the buyer. Line items for IDE products will transfer to the new buyer as separate support contracts, while ALM line items will remain intact on Borland support contracts. We anticipate the operational impact of this should be minimal to our customers - Borland will work closely with the buyer to facilitate a smooth transition for all the customers that are impacted.
